The European Chemical Regions Network (ECRN) facilitates interregional cooperation, policy development, and participation in European projects within the chemical industry sectors across various European regions. As a leading stakeholder in European chemical policy, ECRN promotes modern and sustainable value chains through a strong regional dimension. Originating from an INTERREG IIIc project in 2004, ECRN has evolved into a vital network, advocating for strategic and local impact-driven approaches to policy within the chemical industry.

Job Description:

As a Policy and Network Coordinator, first and direct report to the Executive Director, you will play a critical role in managing network activities, coordinating policy monitoring, overseeing EU project management, enhancing our communications, promoting our organizational and policy initiatives and representing ECRN in public events also a speaker.  This position requires a strategic thinker with robust project management skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks effectively in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Policy Monitoring: Stay updated with EU regulations and legislation relevant to the chemical industry. Prepare briefs, analyse policy issues, and support the strategic positioning of the ECRN in these matters.
  • Network Coordination: Facilitate the functioning of ECRN bodies, maintain member relations, and ensure efficient communication across the network.
  • Strategic Planning: Participate in the strategic planning processes, monitor the implementation of action plans, and provide input for the development of strategic proposals.
  • Event Coordination: Plan and execute events, manage logistics, coordinate with service providers, and handle all aspects of event marketing and materials production.
  • Office Management: Oversee daily administrative tasks, manage office supplies, and ensure smooth operations within the office.
  • EU Project Management: Manage the coordination, commitment, and reporting for EU projects, overseeing tasks, durations, and liaising with project partners. Keep track of project deliverables, manage reporting schedules, and ensure compliance with EU guidelines and timelines.
  • Communications and Content Creation: Develop, draft, and review content for various platforms including. Manage public and internal communications materials such as position papers, joint statements, action plans, budgets, reports, and policy briefings.
  • Represent ECRN in Various EU Initiatives: Actively participate in initiatives such as the Pact for Skills, Transition Pathway for the Chemical industry, Just Transition Platform, Circular Plastics Alliance, and the Smart Specialisation Community of Practice (S3 CoP), contributing to the development and implementation of strategies that align with ECRN’s objectives and policy priorities.
  • Public Speaking and Representation: Actively participate and speak at EU initiatives and public events

Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years experience in a similar position or in the European Affairs environment
  • Bachelor or higher degree in Political Science, European Studies, Communication, Chemistry or a related field.
  • Experience in cooperation with regional authorities and EU institutions
  • Proven experience in policy analysis, network coordination, event management, and EU project management.
  • Strong writing and editing skills with attention to detail.
  • Fluent in English; additional European languages are an advantage.
  • Proficient in MS Office and familiar with digital communication tools.
