On September 13th, ECRN Director Folco Ciulli joined our partners at the ICIQ Institute in Tarragona, to participate in the two-days closing event of the S3Chem Smart Chemical Specialisation Strategy project.
Innovation is essential for a sustainable and thriving chemical sector: for this reason, the project aims to foster and promote innovation and best practices in chemical related areas in the partner regions. The project brought together several regions across the EU: Asturias, Catalonia, Lombardy, Limburg, Mazovia, Saxony Anhalt and Wallonia, together with representatives of industries and research centres.
Regional authorities have been the main beneficiaries of the project. Through the Interregional Working Group, they shared experiences and best practices to improve policy instruments for innovation funding in the chemical sector. Whereas companies and research institutes contributed through the Regional Innovation Stakeholder Group, to integrate their experiences into the interregional learning process.
On September 14th, ECRN moderated the panel on transition of the chemical sector at the European level, bringing in the Regions’ role and perspective.
