OECD COP27 Virtual Pavilion - Regional industrial transitions to climate neutrality
Wednesday 16th November - 5:00pm- online session.
ECRN is proud to participate in the OECD COP27 Virtual Pavillon.
While the OECD is actively participating in a number of physical events during COP27 in Sharm-El-Sheikh, the OECD COP27 Virtual Pavilion brings together leading actors and experts to discuss and share insights in the global effort to combat climate change. The panels draw on OECD analysis and data, covering a wide list of topics, including: financing the net-zero transition, mitigating GHG in the agriculture and food sector, adapting to climate change, carbon prices, innovation, sustainable mobility and more. ECRN in particular will discuss the regional implications of the green transition.
On the road to a climate-neutral economy by 2050, some manufacturing industries will need to undertake particularly profound transformations,. These transformations will have a strong impact on production technologies, costs, infrastructures and the job market. Many manufacturing activities are regionally concentrated, hence the transformations will have local implications for regional development and employment. They may change skill requirements, redistribute jobs across locations, decrease jobs in some sectors and increase them in others.
How can regions face these challenges? Which policies can be effective in supporting them? Understanding regional implications of the industrial transition is essential to ensure a just transition and to allow regions to benefit from these transformations.
