On Thursday, 27 February, ECRN convened its 2025 General Assembly in Antwerp at BASF’s premises. The meeting served as an occasion to review the achievements of 2024 and to establish the network’s strategic direction for 2025 and beyond. Participants approved new policy priorities and reaffirmed ECRN’s commitment to supporting the development of chemical industries across European regions.
During the Assembly, ECRN welcomed its newest members: Regione Liguria, Regione Piemonte, and Innovation Centre of the Ústí Region (ICUK). In addition, two new associated members joined the network: Polish Chamber of the Chemical Industry and Confapi.
The assembly also elected a new board member: Vincenzo Colla, Vice President and Regional Minister for Economic Development and Green Economy, Energy, Vocational Training, University and
Research of Emilia Romagna Region.
Throughout the day, regional representatives had the opportunity to engage with Ms. Ann Wurman, Director of essenscia Flanders, who highlighted the strengths and emerging trends within the chemical sector in Flanders—particularly the thriving chemical cluster at the Port of Antwerp. In the afternoon, participants were guided on a bus tour of the BASF facility in Antwerp, where they observed firsthand the innovative and impactful work being carried out.
ECRN expresses its gratitude to BASF for hosting the event, and extends sincere thanks to both essenscia and the Flanders Region for facilitating this insightful visit.
