The Competitiveness Council which met on 28th May 2009 called on the European Commission and all other relevant stakeholders to implement the HLG recommendations, as they are crucial for the future success of the chemical sector in Europe. The Council furthermore invited the European Commission to “closely and regularly monitor the competitiveness of the industry and progress made in the implementation of the HLG conclusions” and also to present the first evaluation report of the implementation by the end of 2010, in close consultation with the stakeholders (p. 9 of the Council Conclusions).
