Welcome Catalonia!
Catalonia Region, through its agency ACCIO’, joined ECRN during its latest General Assembly on February 27th.
There are already many things to work on: from S3 Specialisation to hydrogen and circular economy.
The region represents a great added value for ECRN and the other members, and we look forward to cooperating on many new topics, including skills and just transition. The region employs around 38% of workers in the chemicals industry in Spain (37,542 employees), and over 29% of the chemical companies in Spain are located here (1,059 Companies)! The Region is also home of highly ranked technical universities and hosts some of the biggest chemical related events in the EU.
- 2 nd largest manufacturing sector in the Catalan economy by turnover.
- Three distinct chemical centers (Barcelona, Tarragona and Vallès) featuring chemical companies at different stages of the value chain that also provide services to chemical companies.
- Robust public-private partnerships to support the Catalan chemical ecosystem.
- ChemMed Tarragona is an industrial, logistical, academic and scientific chemical cluster in Tarragona made up of more than a hundred chemical companies.
